Burns Night 2027

January 25, 2027
A haggis presented on a platter with thistles and tartan at a Burns supper

Burns Night on 25 January celebrates the Scottish poet Robert Burns with haggis, whisky, poetry and, often, a ceilidh. Suppers range from relaxed evenings at home to formal dinners in hotels and clubs.

For a formal Burns supper, Highland dress is the traditional choice, but a well-cut tweed jacket or suit is just as welcome and far more versatile afterwards. Think heather, moss or brown tweeds, a tattersall or plain shirt and a wool or knitted tie. Ladies can bring in tartan with a skirt, a sash or a tailored jacket. If there will be dancing, make sure your jacket lets you lift your arms with ease.
